French Onion Burger

Delicious French Onion Burger with a juicy beef patty, caramelized onions & melted swiss cheese.

    Directions

    Step1

    Start the onions. In a large heavy bottom skillet, add 3 tablespoons of butter and onion ring slices. Cook the onions on medium heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Step2

    Once onions are turning a deep golden brown add 1/2 cup of beef broth. Continue cooking the onions until the liquid has evaporated and the onions look like a Jamlike substance. Remove the onions from the heat and set aside. No need to wipe the skillet, the burgers will be cooking in all that caramelized onion flavor!

    Step3

    Meanwhile mix the ground beef, one egg, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce together. Form the meat into patties 6 ounces each. Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the onion pan on medium heat allowing to melt. Next add your burgers to the buttery pan. Cook the burgers 6-8 minutes each side undisturbed allowing a crust to form.

    Step4

    Make aioli sauce. In a small bowl combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, pepper and minced garlic, stirring until creamy and combined. Next butter the hamburger buns and toast them in a toaster oven of broiler.

    Add two pieces of Swiss cheese to each of the burgers just before they are finished cooking and allow to melt. Remove from the heat to a plate.

    Step6

    Add the burger to the toasted bun, then a generous amount of caramelized onions, freshly chopped parsley and the top bun with aioli sauce. Enjoy!
