Hi, I'm Kristy!
I’m a lifelong foodie who loves to cook, experiment, and celebrate the flavors of the Golden State, where I grew up. Before settling into our life here in the Northwest, I worked as an Emergency Medical Technician and later owned an antique shop — a perfect outlet for my love of history, craftsmanship, and one‑of‑a‑kind treasures. My husband spent 35 years as a firefighter in Southern California, and together we traveled everywhere from California to Canada in search of antiques and unforgettable meals.
We now make our home in Northern Idaho, where we tend a large garden and do a whole lot of canning. With the nearest store more than an hour away on a good‑weather day, I keep a well‑stocked pantry and five refrigerator‑freezers to carry us through the seasons. Winters can drop below zero and often snow us in, so I rely on what we’ve grown and preserved during the summer. Cooking and baking become our winter rhythm, and I love creating meals from what’s in season and what we have on hand.
