Golden brown jumbo cathead biscuits are not only cool to see, but they also taste amazing! Buttery and slightly crisp outside and soft fluffy inside. Everything a biscuit should be!
Ingredients
Directions
Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Line a baking sheet with a baking mat. An ungreased baking sheet will also work.
In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt.
Cut in cubed butter until flour mixture resembles a course meal.
Add in buttermilk and stir until a shaggy mass forms.
Knead dough gently turning it over into itself and pushing down with the heel of your hand. Use flour to keep dough from sticking to surface if needed. Lightly flour a rolling pin and roll dough to 1 inch thickness. Cut biscuits out to desired size.
Place biscuits on a lined baking sheet and bake for 12-18 minutes or until desired doneness is achieved. For extra-large cathead biscuits increase bake time accordingly.
Once biscuits are finished baking, place them on a cooling rack to stop the cooking process and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve and enjoy!
