Santa’s Village Gingerbread Cookies

My mom got this recipe from Santa’s Village, Sky Forest California many years ago when I was a little girl. We went there every year. I love this recipe!

    Directions

    Step1

    Mix together all ingredients until completely combined and smooth.

    Step2

    Separate the dough into 4 disks (it will be easier), wrapping each one individually in plastic wrap. Chill for at least 30 minutes. Dough will be very sticky and hard to roll out if it’s not cold enough. Preheat oven to 350

    Step3

    Flour work surface and roll out one disk at a time to 1/4 inch thick.

    Cut out cookies and place them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Keep other disks refrigerated until you are ready to bake them.

    Step5

    Bake for 10-15 minutes until they are a deep brown. Leave in longer for crunchy cookies or shorter for soft chewy cookies.

    Allow to cool completely before icing.

    Instructions for icing: Mix powdered sugar and milk together till smooth and pour into piping bag.
