Directions

Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla and almond extracts. Beat until thoroughly combined. In a medium bowl whisk together all purpose flour, baking powder and salt, mixing well. Slowly add flour mixture to sugar mixture until combined.



Once everything is incorporated, form dough into rolls. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm. About 1-2 hours. If you want to use the dough immediately you can. Roll the dough out and cut out the desired shapes with a cookie cutter.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet or 2 with parchment paper. Slice dough into rounds and bake for 8-12 minutes.

Allow cookies to cool for 12-15 minutes before applying cookie glaze.


Make cookie glaze:. Add 2 cups of powdered sugar to a medium mixing bowl and 2 tablespoons of hot milk.

With a spoon apply glaze and allow to set up.
