Easy homemade festive egg nog recipe with vanilla, cream and nutmeg! A holiday favorite!🎄
Ingredients
Directions
I use a stand mixture with the whisk attachment for this part. In a large bowl combine egg yolks and sugar.
In a saucepan on medium heat add milk and cream. Slice the vanilla bean down the middle and scoop out seeds. Add the seeds and vanilla pod to the milk mixture. Turn on stovetop to medium heat. Bring the mixture to a simmer whisking constantly. Add nutmeg. Remove from heat.
Pour the hot milk mixture into the eggs and sugar mixture a little at a time whisking vigorously making sure the eggs don't scramble. Keep doing this until everything is combined.
Pour the egg nog back into the saucepan and heat to 160 degrees whisking constantly. This will help make sure the eggs are safe for consumption and the raw eggs won't be an issue.
Allow the egg nog to cool, then refrigerate until chilled.
Enjoy! Happy Holidays!
