Chinese Barbecue Chicken

    Step1

    In a mixing bowl combine sugar, salt, 5 spice, red pepper flakes, sesame oil, Shaoxing rice wine, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, molasses, garlic powder and honey. Mix until combined.

    Step2

    Pat chicken thighs dry with a paper towel.

    Step3

    Place chicken in a ziplock bag with 4-5 tablespoons of barbecue sauce. Rub sauce into chicken. Refrigerate the rest of the sauce and allow chicken to marinate overnight. Reserve some of the sauce to drizzle on the chicken after grilling.

    Step4

    Place chicken on the grill and cook till the internal temperature reaches 165.

    Step5

    Plate your chicken and drizzle remaining barbecue sauce over the meat and sprinkle with chopped green onions. Enjoy!
