    Step1

    In a mixing bowl combine sugar, salt, 5 spice, red pepper flakes, sesame oil, Shaoxing rice wine, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, molasses, garlic powder and honey. Mix until combined.

    Chinese Barbecue Chicken

    Pat chicken thighs dry with a paper towel. Place chicken in a Ziplock bag with 4-5 tablespoons of barbecue sauce. Rub sauce into chicken. Refrigerate the chicken and the rest of the sauce. Allow chicken to marinate for a couple hours or overnight.

    Oil the grill or grill pan so that the chicken doesn't stick. Place chicken on the grill, cook and baste the chicken with remaining sauce until caramelized and the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
