Fresh tomatoes, bacon, red onion with mayonnaise and fresh dill dressing.
Ingredients
Directions
The Southern Tomato Cracker Salad, believed to have originated in southeast Georgia, is a timeless Southern classic that transforms the flavors of a tomato sandwich into a bowl‑friendly dish. It shines brightest when made with ripe, juicy tomatoes from the garden, farmers market, or produce aisle, and it’s often paired with bacon, shrimp, or chicken for extra flavor and heartiness.
Cook bacon to your liking, crumble, and set aside.
Prepare the dressing by combining 2/3 cup of mayonnaise with 2-3 tablespoons of chopped dill in a small bowl.
Chop the tomatoes and red onion. If the tomatoes have many seeds, remove some or all of them. Break the crackers into pieces of your preferred size.
Mix all the ingredients, salt to taste, then top with cracked pepper and fresh dill. Serve right away. Enjoy!
